Meeting Hello Kitty and Friends at Sanrio Puroland in Tama, Japan!

SECOND FLOOR
After exhausting ourselves from walking around and taking pictures on the first floor, we headed back up the same set of escalators to the second floor where the attractions are mostly interactive and walkthrough-type.

1. GUDETAMA TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD AT STRAWBERRY HALL
Is he picking his nose?!

I've learned beforehand that the attractions housed in Strawberry Hall in the second floor change by the season, so we considered ourselves fortunate enough to visit when they had a Gudetama-themed interactive attraction named "Gudetama Around the World" because-- well, Gudetama.

The laziest but cutest egg in the whole planet has an entire attraction designed after him.

Before entry, attendants will register and grant visitors a unique Gudetama Passport which allows them access to the three Gudetama-themed arcade games and the photo booth inside the attraction. Don't miss these!

Basically, Gudetama around the world is a giant exhibit-type attraction where there are plenty of photo opportunities with Gudetama that are perfect for the ultimate selfie-slash-DP.

Sigh. Always make sure to arrive three hours before any international flight to avoid delays.

The Gudetama Burger Shop represents Gudetama in the US of America.

The fact that she can't eat the crepe made her tremendously unhappy.

Gudetama's Sushi Shop represents Gudetama in his home country, Japan!

"Would you like a meat bun to go-gozaru?" Uhm, no, thank you.

There's a Gudetama tamago roll outside the sushi shop! *takes 100 photos in burst mode*

The highly-engaging Gudetama egg-cracking game can be played once per Gudetama Passport.  It is housed in a Gudetama Noodle Shop, representing Gudetama in China.

The Gudetama Cafe-- probably for lonely hearts. This corner probably depicts Gudetama in London.

That Eggs Benedict sure looks good.

Gyuuu~.

The Gudecolor photo booth is a great place for a very unique picture in two different backdrops! But just like the egg-cracking game, though, your picture can only be taken once per backdrop per Gudetama Passport.

The first backdrop: hanging out with Gudetama in a cupboard along with other ingredients! The visitor is supposed to sit on the other cracked eggshell beside Gudetama.

Exhibit A: Gudetama-- with three other yolks.

The second backdrop: posing with fried Gudetama on a pan.

Exhibit B: Sunny side-up Gudetama with hotdogs and an interesting-looking pork sausage on the side.

Alright, now, what number comes after two?

The second interactive game inside Gudetama Around the World is GudeBowl, a bowling game!

The third and last interactive game inside Gudetama Around the World is Gudetama Disco, wherein visitors need to dance to pop virtual bubbles on a screen!

Gudetama gachapon machines!

Gudetama and My Melody midway games are available at the entrance/exit to Strawberry Hall.

2. LADY KITTY'S HOUSE
Lady Kitty's House is a walkthrough attraction with the premise of visiting the mansion of the elegant Lady Hello Kitty as very eager tourists. At the end of the tour is an opportunity to meet, greet, and take pictures with Lady Kitty herself!

Lady Kitty's House. Wait time: average of 5-15 minutes.

The foyer of Kitty's House.

Yes, I would love to sit here!

A teddy bear sofa! Hello Kitty loves stuffed animals!

The attendant just informed me that sleeping on the sofa is not allowed.

You can sit on some of the props in the house, including this bear here.

They have this simulation machine where you can see how you'll look in a ball gown.

This panel painted to look like Kitty's shelf full of stuffed animals occasionally slides open to reveal...

...this big one, which I desperately want to hug!

Right outside Lady Kitty's House is the Lady Kitty's shop for all Hello Kitty lovers.

3. SANRIO PUROLAND ENTERTAINMENT HALL
The Entertainment Hall which can be accessed from the entrance to Lady Kitty's Shop offers a wide array of arcade-type games, coin-operated rides, photo booths and machines.

4. KIKI AND LALA'S TWINKLING TOURS
Everyone who grew up with Sanrio would know Kiki and Lala as the twins who were born in a distant star with the mission of manning the Dream Machine. In this attraction, they're opening up their home to visitors who wish to see how they live above the clouds.

They have a section for another motion game wherein you can pop stars on the screen by dancing and moving around. The screen will display a QR code at the end of the game so you can claim a picture of you with your score online.

5. THE ENTRANCE STORE FOR ORIGINAL SANRIO MERCHANDISE
After everything's been said and done, the ideal end-point for your Sanrio experience for the day should be the Entrance Shop which is the biggest and most extensive shop inside the indoor park. I went crazy over the Sanrio-themed food products and original apparel!

Our adventure to Sanrio Puroland vindicated me from my childhood of not possessing any cute and cool merchandise that I thought would brand me as being "in the cool" like the other girls in my class. Now, while I can readily afford to buy the stuff that I fancy, I've learned throughout my years of working and saving that it's best to spend dough on stuff that are practical and usable. I've learned that the things that truly make me rich are not those that can be kept in boxes and in shelves, but those that I can keep close to my heart.

So, they can keep the Hello Kitty merchandise; I'd rather visit Puroland with the people that I love over and over again.

P.S. Puroland has more shows, restaurants and shops at the third and fourth floors, which I won't be covering in this post. For more details, head to the official Sanrio Puroland website.
